Fresh out of prison after serving seven years for murder, hired muscle Mitchell Boots Mason (former boxer Gary Stretch) is forced into one last job by shady businessman Stephen Rea - to assassinate his own estranged brother, an MP who has designs on becoming prime minister. Shadowing his every move is Vinnie Jones as a rule-bending police detective with whom Boots has a "history". Director Marcus Warren's film is one of the most inept entries in the oversubscribed canon of Brit gangster chic, hampered further by clichéd visuals, an appallingly hackneyed script and woeful casting. Stretch is too wooden to shoulder a lead role, while Lee Ryan (formerly of boy band Blue) is laughable as Rea's obsequious and foul-mouthed gofer. Women appear only as decoration; Sadie Frost's cameo as Boots's bar-owner confidante is utterly pointless, and Shannyn Sossamon's Whitehall mistress equally fails to convince.
Sibling rivalry turned into betrayal between two brothers. One a prime candidate for Prime Minister, the other a henchman for a successful, yet shady businessman. Presented with an opportunity to take revenge against his brother, our anti-hero must come to terms with the truth in a world where you can trust no one and loyalty is rare.
